Hyperstore

Hyperstore is a specialist supplier of POS hardware, barcode scanners, barcode label printers and mobile computers. The family run company formed in 2004, before expanding into the eCommerce market in 2008. Hyperstore launched their Magento 2 website in early 2017, seeking a mobile friendly way of distributing their POS hardware.

The Project

Hyperstore were having various speed issues with their website. Product pages were taking a long time to load – sometimes more than ten seconds – while their daily update of product prices, achieved via integration with Netsuite (an ERP solution), was taking more than eight hours. We conducted a thorough audit of their website, their server and how they were using caching both in Magento and on the server side before advising them on the optimum configuration of Redis full-page caching. We also determined that the page load speed on product pages was being caused by an outdated extension which was no longer in use, and thus hadn’t been updated and wasn’t fully compatible with newer versions of Magento.

The Outcome

After disabling the outdated extension, the load speed of product pages improved dramatically while our suggested Redis configuration settings sped up their daily use of the Netsuite integration. We are looking forward to supporting Hyperstore further, and have discussed assisting them with upgrading to version 2.3.
